Additional Large Video Codec related Patent Portfolio Assignment by Panasonic Corporation to IP Bridge’s IP Fund and Entry as a Licensor of Patent Pool



IP Bridge, Inc. [Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President, Shigeharu Yoshii] (IP Bridge) announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, IP fund, has purchased a portfolio of video codec related patents from Panasonic Corporation [Kadoma City, Osaka, President, Kazuhiro Tsuga](Panasonic) .

The portfolio is a part of Panasonic’s achievements based upon its long-term advanced development, standardization, and commercialization activities in the field of video codec technology. This video codec technology is utilized for encoding and decoding functionalities implemented by a broad range of products such as Television, Blue-Ray Disc, Smartphone, Tablet, and etc.
By this additional purchase of Panasonic’s video codec related patent portfolio, IP Fund managed by IP Bridge will become a licensor in a Patent Pool administrated by MPEG LA, LLC.
This is the first time for IP Bridge to be a licensor of patent pool since its establishment in July, 2013 and by including this portfolio provides IP Bridge with multiple opportunities for driving its licensing activities., not only through the bi-lateral negotiations but through patent pool.
