IP Bridge, Inc. (Chiyoda-ku Tokyo) (IP Bridge) members participated in “LESI 2019 Annual Conference” (organized by Licensing Executives Society International (LESI)) in Yokohama on May 26-28, 2019 as speaker.

Satoshi Konno (Director, Innovation), presented as a speaker in a session titled “Is IP Important for Startups? Why or Why not?”. In this session, he discussed various obstacles for Startups with instances. He also exchanged the ideal form and support of next-generation specialist including investor, IP specialist.

Takeo Yoshimura (Director, Licensing) presented as a speaker in a session titled “Knowledge Transfer from Universities”. In this session, he shared Japanese government effort to implement the outcome of R&D by universities. The effort woke up many universities and boosted the number of university-originated venture in Japan these days.

IP Bridge Enters Into License Agreements With 10 Companies

IP Bridge Members Participated in IPBC Conferences as Moderator and Speaker


IP Bridge, Inc. (Chiyoda-ku Tokyo) (IP Bridge) members participated in “IPBC Japan 2018” (organized by Intellectual Asset Management (IAM)) in Tokyo on September 13, 2018 as moderator and “IPBC Asia 2018” (also organized by IAM) in Shanghai on December 2 to 4, 2018 as speaker.

Director of corporate planning and IP procurement, Minoru Fujiki, moderated a session titled “Enabling SMEs” at IPBC Japan 2018 where he and other speakers discussed how to energize SMEs (Small and Medium-sized Enterprise) from an IP aspect, including new models of patent licensing and technology transfers.

License Program Manager, Koichi Kishida, presented as a speaker in a session titled “Dispute Navigation”. In this session, he discussed various dispute resolution approaches in Japan, including how to solve disputes without litigation and how to improve chances of success. He also exchanged his thoughts with other speakers from China, Korea and Taiwan.

IP Bridge established first development association aiming to utilize unused patent


IP Bridge, Inc. (Chiyoda-ku Tokyo, President Shigeharu Yoshii) (IP Bridge) established “Printable sensor code development association”(development association) together with Kokusai Pulp & Paper Co., Ltd., C-INK Co., Ltd. and PMCODE Co.,Ltd. after receiving approval by Minister of METI. IP Bridge endeavors early commercialization of its owned patented technology regarding to printable sensor code through this development association. President of IP Bridge, Shigeharu Yoshii, assumes office as chairman of the development association. Above mentioned four companies including IP Bridge become member of the development association. Each member has surpassing knowledge regarding to open innovation, unique component technology for printable sensor code, and so forth. With the aim of promoting this technology, member conduct cooperative research by contributing staff and expense for this research. The achievement of the development association will be co-managed by member, and mutually utilized by member as well.

The development association intends to do product quality control and product quality assurance at thermal management during distribution by integration of printable thermal sensor (printable sensor code) technology, ink compounding technology and color code recognition technology. First target is to commercialize thermal management on medicine packaging in 2020.

IP Bridge Joins the Avanci’s Licensing Platform of Wireless Communications SEPs for IoT Products


 Godo Kaisha IP Bridge 1, a wholly-owned subsidiary of IP Bridge, Inc. (“IP Bridge”), announced that it joined the patent licensing platform launched and administrated by Avanci, LLC (“Avanci”) as a licensor in terms of its own wireless communications standards essential patents.

The licensing platform administrated by Avanci is a structure or program that offers one-stop licenses for patented wireless technologies of 2G, 3G and 4G standards to the Internet of Things (IoT) products such as Connected Car, Smart Meter and so on. The licenses are granted for companies which need to use the technologies for their IoT business on fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory terms (FRAND). The companies intending to enter the IoT industry will be relieved from spending excessive resources for negotiating individual licenses with multiple patent holders by taking this one stop licenses through the platform, and will be able to operate the IoT business in transparent environment.

IP Bridge would contribute to the healthy growth of the IoT industry through joining as a licensor in the Avanci’s efficient and transparent licensing platform.

Patent Assignment by a Japanese Electronics Company to IP Bridge’s IP fund


 IP Bridge, Inc. announced that Godo Kaisha IP Bridge 1 (“IP Bridge”), an IP fund and wholly-owned subsidiary of IP Bridge, Inc., has purchased a portfolio of patents from a Japanese electronics company.

 The portfolio consists of patents related to video coding technologies such as H.264/AVC (Advanced Video Codec) and H.265/HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) standards. By this purchase of new patent portfolio, IP Bridge enhances synergy with its existing IP assets related to the standards and further drives its IP licensing activities.

IP Bridge and Broadcom Resolve Patent Dispute, Reach License Agreement


 Godo Kaisha IP Bridge 1 (“IP Bridge”) announced today that it has reached a settlement and license agreement with Avago Technologies US, Inc., Avago Technologies, Ltd., Broadcom Corporation, Broadcom Ltd., and LSI Corporation (collectively, “Broadcom”). The license relates to patented technologies used in a wide range of semiconductor products. The agreement resolves all pending patent disputes involving the parties.

 Broadcom is the major group of semiconductor companies to reach a license agreement with IP Bridge for patents in IP Bridge’s extensive semiconductor patent portfolio. “The Broadcom group of companies are some of the world’s leading semiconductor companies, and we are pleased to have them as licensees,” said Hideyuki Ogata, executive manager of IP Bridge. “IP Bridge has dedicated significant resources to building a portfolio of over 700 worldwide semiconductor assets and these settlements reinforce the breadth and quality of our portfolio.”
